This coffee comes from the Kilimbi Washing Station via our friends at Higa Coffee Importers. This washing station is located on the shares of Lake Kivu. The washing station supports farmers to get quality seedlings to improve farmers' production, agriculture skill and technique training, and health insurance for all their farming partners. After being picked at peak ripeness, this coffee is depulped and floated in fermentation tanks for 12 hours before cleaning the last of the mucilage. This brings out more sweetness in the coffee, resulting in a cup that is bright, yet balanced with a lemon citrus acidity, and a caramel sweet backbone.
